Samsung Star Full Features
Samsung Star Full Features:
Design:
The design of the S5230 is very handy and compact, measuring 104 x 53 x 11.9 mm and weighs only 93 grams. This set is just in your pocket and not make you think you are with a brick.
With a 3-inch screen with 240 X 400 screen resolution and 256k colors screen size is almost enough to give any user. There are three hardware keys below the screen. Each side allow you to attend and disconnect calls, while the one at the center is the Back key.
A simple volume rocker is on the top left of the phone with a Samsung proprietary port that is used to connect the charger, data cable and headset.
The right side of the phone is equally easy, with the camera and the key out. The entire back is actually a single plastic panel, which incidentally is a fingerprint magnet. The 3.2 megapixel camera gazes at you from one corner of the plastic plate. Unfortunately, the only way to get to the microSD slot is by removing the battery, making it difficult to reach and not hot.
The interface:
The Samsung S5230 comes with a slightly modified version of the Samsung TouchWiz interface known. This latest iteration of the user interface features TouchWiz usual virtues of their predecessors, while adding some Bling to it.
On the main screen that is going to get something like this.
The main screen:
The home screen has a clean interface with only the operator’s name appears on it. You will be pleasantly surprised to see the entire screen to start the expansion of space for three different screens, the user can change the wall papers according to their own preferences. While use it gave me the feeling that I was using iPhone, but I like this interface because it only gave me the ability to control which applications or widgets to display or make shortcuts to the most used application on any screen you wanted. It has a simple and easy to use drag and drop which is more convenient than any other phone that I used tap. Although Windows-based phones now have similar characteristics, but the response time of Samsung S5230 is faster than any Windows-based mobile I have used so far.
The home screen has also allowed to play three navigation options that give additional support to back up three buttons used to control the application and calling features.
Widgets:
Widgets, like the side view, are to the left of the screen. You can open the widget by simply clicking once on the screen, playing back to slide back to where they came from.
These devices function as a reminder, alarm clock, organizer, climate and many others, but the most important functionality of these gadgets are shortcuts to popular sites such as YouTube, Facebook, Picasa, etc. Just click on them and the browser takes you directly to your site, as simple as that. And if you want to do outside of the Sidebar and placed on the desktop, just grab them and drag them out to the desktop. You can place any of the widgets for any of the three screens at your disposal.
Minor problems I face while using YouTube widget is used as the internal media player for viewing videos, and sometimes the video can not be open to all. I do not refer to the application of failure much as it can be dependent on the connectivity and edge. I am sure Samsung dev team will be working in an application independent of YouTube like the Windows or Symbian OS based nix.
Other applications such as Google, MySpace and Picasa worked perfectly without any hitch. I especially liked the response time of the widgets I put through a stress test of the strong opening multiple widgets at the same time and then closing them. There was a very minute delay, when more than four devices are accessed at the same time but the delay is insignificant to the user. This phone is basically an entertainment phone. And that almost never gets bored of playing with this elegant beauty.
Messages:
This phone offers three major options for text written in the first place if the standard cell phone buttons and the second most appropriate way to type text in this particular case is the full keyboard layout for text entry. To use it, all you have to do is turn the cell phone against the clock wise 90 degrees (horizontal) and they’re good to go. The third and most interesting is the handwriting recognition but it does not impress me, especially because you need to, press your finger hard to write something, and secondly, it’s a big disappointment if you’re going to write something fast. Moreover, the keyboard and the response time and the placement of virtual keyboard is good enough for anyone loving to write text quickly, therefore the tool of handwriting recognition is rarely used.
Landscape mode, while it takes some time to master, is the best way to input text. Once you get used to it, I doubt that you use the other two forms of text input. Here I mention that to my surprise punch key recognition on the screen really works well for writing the text. And no matter how fat your fingers are, you will not be disappointed.
Besides, another important feature is the spell checker which almost always starts at the right time, and prevents you from doing misspellings.
Browser and Connectivity:
This mobile phone comes with Samsung Mobile Browser v0.8. Of pages is almost exactly like your favorite browser to the PC. If you move to the specifications of part of the review, there is no 3G or WLAN, so the speed of the browser would be fine for most consumers, but it gets a little slow to load pages of content, heavy .
There was however, an annoying (only once) depending on the browser. You may have to manually select the network input for connection to the Internet. Although my service provider launched the WAP and MMS settings in your phone as soon as I inserted my SIM and turned it into. I had to manually create the profile of the Internet to access the Internet. With WAP settings, only access WAP enabled sites.
Same with the settings of widgets that require internet access. For them, all you need do is change the settings in the phone settings and select the Internet connection to Widgets. After that, it will not ask you again for choosing the network.
The positive side is that the selection of the network is very easy, unlike Symbian OS or Windows. All you need do is to play twice and your network is selected. Change the network configuration is a breeze too.
The browser is a better view of the landscape. There was however a delay (about 10 seconds), taking into account changing from vertical to horizontal, but is acceptable. The side menu buttons are a convenience you will not have to look at the menu to find the full screen, but is now part of the screen menu icons.
Organizer:
The functionality offered by the whole ‘Organizer’ should be more than sufficient to meet the needs of a normal customer. In it, you have ‘calendar’ where you can enter up to 300 events, given daily, weekly and monthly for the panels or view them all in a vertical list. But that is not the same. You’ll also find ‘Notes’,’ Tasks’, ‘World Clock’, ‘Calculator’ and ‘unit converter’ in here, while “Voice Recorder” and “Timer” are available through the menu of applications. “My files” application that is actually a file manager in its own right can also be found in the above menu.
Call quality:
The call quality is good, even when the signal low. I tested it on all mobile networks, while making calls to friends and family (and telling them that I was using the latest Samsung - soon to be launched - smartphone). The call quality was very surprising interior, however, there was a slight decrease in the sound on the outside but there is nothing one can show stopper. The subwoofer sound is average, but they serve the purpose anyway.
Although the signal intensity is an indication of how well it is on the cover of its facilities, but lower signal does not necessarily mean that your call quality will deteriorate.
Smart Unlock:
This is one of my favorite features of the phone. Smart unlock means that you can identify a character to unlock the phone, which means that when you type the character on screen, the phone is unlocked and allows access. This reminds me of the apple iPhone slide to unlock feature, which is really pure, when it was launched, but this is even better for me. Moreover, the basic feature is to press the unlock on the lock icon appears for a few seconds to unlock the phone. Logical and interesting!
House:
The user interface for the 3.2 megapixel camera that comes with the phone is quite opposite to what the phone has to offer. It is all black in contrast with all the eye candy found in the menu. Perhaps this is because of the fact that all black UI gives the impression that the whole screen is used as a camera viewfinder. The buttons on the screen are large enough to be easily pressed. And like any other mobile camera these days, comes with standard features like setting the image resolution and color tones of the image etc.
That said, one of the most distinguished of this cell phone camera is useful for sharing photos (photo-blog of the function). Allowing you to simply take a picture and upload it to any of the six popular community sites, namely Facebook, Flickr, Friendster, MySpace, Photobucket and Picasa? This is really impressive by the fact that you do not have to put extra effort on the image to download to your PC first and then rise again, this really stands out, at a price and it comes as a treat.
As you can see in the pictures above, the camera takes really good pictures in daylight and can be easily compared with any of the popular phone call to have a 3.2 Megapixel camera, the Sony Ericsson K750i, but it is behind a little break when behind closed doors or in low light environments. Have a look.
The functionality of audio:
The Samsung S5230 comes with an audio player in the delivery and enough features to satisfy most customers. Both the audio player ‘and’ radio ‘can be accessed through widgets or by accessing the menu system. Built in speaker is above average and is by all means to the height.
I rate the audio quality of Samsung S5230 to be better than most smartphones, or even some music phones on the market. The audio quality is sharp and has more than 10 audio settings that are only a touch away. This means that you really get to enjoy their collection of songs.
The model that was sent to Pakistan from Samsung comes with a 512MB MicroSD card, but since the external memory is expandable to 16 GB, you will not have to worry about its huge collection of music and videos on the go.
Analysis of performance and
This phone is fast, period. I enjoyed all the features and here is what I can say. The dial number is correct and that only a few milliseconds of delay between a tap to the next. I tried to make conference calls and the same result. Do not give up. Although we have made a huge difference in functionality and performance between the pre-production models of this business model and business model has made us change our verdict for this phone.
The application menu and access is quite fast too. Text input is needed more than 90% and is also good for people with larger finger digits (I am one of them). This is a clear advantage over iPhone or other phone-based virtual keyboard.
Battery life during our tests performed exceptionally well without any hiccups. Note that this may vary depending on how you use your phone. Wide Web browsing, for example, the battery will drain faster.
